The Community & Education Institute at Dartmouth (CEID) is an initiative of the William Jewett Tucker Foundation designed to provide multicultural education related services to PreK-12 schools. CEID, currently in the pilot phase, is informed by research, input from Dartmouth's administrative offices and academic departments, and the experiences of P-12 educators, multicultural specialists, and diversity professionals nationwide.
Ultimately, CEID is being developed with the following goals:
• Significantly improve the academic achievement, placement, graduation rates, college admissions and overall success of underrepresented students from participating schools
• Significantly improve the cultural competencies of graduates of participating schools
• Make available the latest multicultural education research, materials and resources for New Hampshire educators
• Provide meaningful service learning experiences related to diversity and education for Dartmouth students
Dr. Stuart Calvin Lord, Dean of the Tucker Foundation and Associate Provost of Dartmouth College, assembled the Design Team to develop the Community & Education Institute at Dartmouth. Dr. McManus served as Curriculum Development Coordinator.
