Dr. McManus and his colleagues work with public, private, and independent schools in the following areas. All of our services are designed in consultation with school leaders in order to address the unique culture and needs of each school.
Team Development
For many schools it is important to develop an internal team to take on the challenge of a multicultural school enhancement process.
Dr. McManus & his colleagues will work with you to develop the most effective team for your particular school site/system. The development of an effective internal team requires the inclusion of both formal and informal leaders, a combination that is unique for each school.
Educator Training
In order for multicultural education to become the norm in a school/school system, there is a need for a common understanding of related concepts, issues, and approaches.
Dr. McManus & his colleagues provide foundational training for educators that create a common language and understanding based on multicultural education frameworks, and made unique by the mission and culture of your school.
Educator Mentoring
The classroom provides a unique opportunity for diversity related discourse. At times it may be challenging for professors, regardless of discipline, to effectively facilitate dialogues related to race, class, gender, sexual orientation, disability and other dimensions of diversity.
Dr. McManus & his colleagues will provide one on one consultation for professors/departments that recognize the importance of diversity related discourse and would benefit from the consultation of a specialist on a particular dimension of diversity.
Process Reviews
Academic placement, discipline, and other processes within a school often create disparities. Addressing these disparities is a critical component of creating a school environment that promotes equity, excellence, and the success of all students.
Dr. McManus & his colleagues will work with school administrators and teachers to provide assistance in the examination of internal school processes and development of custom enhancements to address existing or potential disparities.
Curriculum Enhancement
Classroom teachers are extremely busy. Even when they are aware that their curriculum could be more multicultural, reviewing and enhancing all of their lesson plans may seem like an overwhelming task.
Dr. McManus & his colleagues assist teachers by providing services directly to teachers/departments. They will offer assistance with curriculum reviews, detailed suggestions for enhancement, valuable resources, and references related to the efficacy.
Multicultural Resource Management
There are many resources available for schools that may be useful in a multicultural school enhancement process. These resources include organizations that provide diversity related services and materials that are available for educators, conferences for students and/or faculty that address a variety of issues related to diversity and education, and much more.
Dr. McManus will provide assistance for internal school leadership/teams in finding the most helpful resources for addressing the issues and challenges of your unique school.
